Our Mission
The mission of Capturing Joy is to:
Illuminate the hidden histories and pioneering contributions of Black photographers
Educate audiences on the cultural, political, and emotional power of image-making
Inspire a new generation to see photography as a tool for storytelling and social change
Director’s Statement
“Photography is not just about capturing what we see—it’s about preserving how we feel, what we fight for, and what we refuse to forget. This film is a love letter to the Black photographers whose work is a living archive of our joy, resistance, and vision.”
— Floyd Webb, Director
